Race to Any Place

Pittsburgh's Race to Any Place was held last weekend downtown.  Race to Any Place is the longest stationary bike race in Pittsburgh.  Teams of twelve or more take turns riding for 15 minutes on a stationary bike.  The miles are calculated, and the team that went the longest distance is the big winner of the day.

Sisterson has been doing the event for the past three years, and this was my first time.  We had twenty people on our team, and we entered the non-competitive category.  We just like to do it for fun and raise money for a good cause.  All the proceeds were donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Our team collectively raised about $900 and we rode 159 miles.  I kept track of myself, and I rode 11 miles in the two time slots.  My goal was five miles each 15 minute period.  I definately achieved that.  I felt pretty good about myself, until I went to sit down the next day.  Those bikes made my bum sore!

I didn't have my camera with me during the event.  I know someone had one, and as soon as the pictures our posted, I will share a few!

This upsoming Saturday is the Fight For Air Climb Pittsburgh event.  Thirty-eight flights of stairs are ahead of me for this one.  Marc and I have been practicing.  We have gone to the Cathedral of Learning on Pitt's campus to run those steps a few times.  There are thirty-six floors in that building, but only thiry-two are accessable by stairs.  At least it is practice of some sort.  Stay tuned for results!

  1. You go Megs! I could not sit on one of those bikes for 30 minutes if I tried. I did a 15 minute spin the other day and I thought I was going to die. A majority of my pain was from my bum. Seriously those hurt. Good luck with your stairs. HIL
